Jules G. Kappes

Jules Gauche Kappes of Murphy, TX, passed away Monday, October 15, 2012. He was born April 23, 1925, in Durham , NC to parents William John and Mignonette (Gauche) Kappes. He joined the U.S. Navy (Construction Battalion a/k/a “SeaBee”) serving his country out in the Pacific during WWII, and was honorably discharged in 1946. He graduated pre-med from Notre Dame University and began his professional career in the pharmaceuticals/medical diagnostics supplies industry – first with Lederle Laboratories (sales rep/district mgr.) and finally Fisher Products before his retirement. He proudly served the Murphy community as a councilman and then as its Mayor. He also volunteered at the Wylie Christian Community Care Center and St. Anthony Catholic Church . He enjoyed working in his garden, reading his Bible, and indulging his sweet tooth. He is survived by his children, Julissa (Irving, TX), Carol (OKC, OK), Bill (and wife Jane) (Mesquite, TX), Rob (Anderson, CA), and Linda (and husband Michael) (Medford, OR), his niece, Lynda Land (and husband Don) (North Richland Hills, TX), plus grandchildren Robin (Monterey, CA) and Alex (Ft. Walton Beach, FL), his sisters-in-law, Lila Curschman (Macon, GA), and Clara Kappes Birmimgham (AL), and feline pets, Mitzi and G. G. He was preceded in death by his wife of almost 60 years, Delphina Roberts Kappes, his parents, 2 brothers (Bill and Burdette) and 1 sister (Eveline). The family wishes to thank the staff of Garnet Hill Health & Rehab Center for their wonderful care. Arrangements are under the direction of Ted Dickey Funeral Home in Plano, TX. Rosary will be held on Thursday, October 18, 2012 at 7:00 p.m., St. Anthony Catholic Church, Wylie, TX, with a memorial Mass at the Church on Friday, October 19, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. and graveside service following at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Rowlett, TX.
