Karl is survived by his children, Deborah Stone, John Ansbach, Richard Sykes and R. Mark Sykes; his sister Betty Guldin; his niece Nancy Kennedy; and his grandson Jackson Ansbach. He is preceded in death by his wife of 50 years Shelly Ansbach.
Karl was born on November 12, 1935, in North Union Township, Pennsylvania to Arthur Ansbach and Theresa Miles. He graduated from Finlay Engineering College in 1965 with a degree in Electrical Engineering. Later in 1982 he earned his Master of Business Administration from the University of Dallas. He married Shelly Ansbach in 1969 and gained not only an amazing wife but also a beautiful stepdaughter Deborah. After moving to Dallas, Karl began working for Collins Radio Co. In 1971, Karl and Shelly welcomed their son John Ansbach into their home. Later, Karl and Shelly would move to Austin where he worked for Tracor Aerospace – he retired as a Director in 2001. His children remember Karl as a forthright man of integrity, dedication and commitment who encouraged them to pursue their goals.
Karl was an accomplished choir member who sang not only in his church choir but also for the elderly and those suffering from Alzheimer’s disease, as a sing along leader with a national program called Songs & Smiles. He was a patriotic man who loved his country, serving nine years in the United States Air Force. In addition to his professional career at Collins and Tracor, over the years Karl also flew as a private pilot and worked and served as a police officer, a private flight instructor, a city council member in Lakeway, Texas, and, in “retirement,” as a tax preparer at H&R Block.
A memorial service is scheduled for May 24, 2025, at 10am at Grace Avenue United Methodist Church in Frisco, Texas, with a reception to follow also at the Church. Rev. Laura Echols-Richter will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Karl’s life. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the American Cancer Society or Alzheimer’s Association. Condolences can be shared at https://tinyurl.com/Karl-Ansbach-Service. The family would like to thank Shweta Gupta and Arun Halambi for their care, love and support of Karl in his final weeks.
