He is preceded in death by his brothers, Charles Maguire Jr. and Michael Gene Maguire; and his brother-in-law, Pete Sorrell and best friend Al Ericks.
After graduating from Anderson High School, Larry was drafted into the U.S. Army and served in the Vietnam War as a Chinook helicopter crew chief. An honorable man, he dedicated his life to serving his country and those around him.
After his service, he earned degrees in both mechanical and electrical engineering from Purdue University - Hail Purdue! He built a long career at Rockwell Collins in Richardson, Texas. At Rockwell, he contributed to critical defense and communications efforts, including work supporting Air Force One communications and the TACAMO program.
Larry had several nieces and nephews that were close in age, so Larry was more like a brother and was able to help them launch their careers in the Dallas area. Larry treasured time with family and friends. Many remember backyard Sunday Cowboys football gatherings, great food on the grill, and his steady encouragement.
Larry met his future wife, April, on a blind date in 1981 and were married on November 1, 1986, creating a family of three to include April’s daughter Kathie. Larry and April were married for 39 years. Larry helped raise his two grandsons, Will and Tres, alongside their mother, Kathie. They will always remember his example, his guidance, and the love he showed them. April and their family brought him deep joy and kept life full of purpose, humor, and love.
He leaves behind memories of love and laughter, and an enduring example of how to care for those around you.
We pray you felt our hearts bursting with joy whenever we were with you. And now we say Godspeed
