Luther G. Jones

Luther Griffith Jones, age 90, died on March 17, 2011 at his home surrounded by family. He was born on November 8, 1920 to William Griffith Jones and Helen Catherine (Brown) Jones in Cold Brook, New York. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Billie L. (Grieder) Jones, married September 10, 1948 and was the son-in-law to Sam and Ella Grieder of Ardmore, OK. He is also survived by his sons, William Emil Jones and Luther Paul Jones of Ardmore, OK; and sister, Ella Jane Baumgardner of Oneonta, NY. Luther was preceded in death by his parents and 3 sisters, Ruth Simmons, Mary Palmer and Dorothy Mackey of NY. He served in the Coast Guard during WWII and the Navy during the Korean Conflict. He graduated from Oklahoma A&M, Stillwater OK. His work was in Heating and Air Conditioning for over 50 years. Retired from Plano ISD in 1983. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge 768, VFW Post 4380 and the American Legion Post 321. Funeral Service will be held at Ted Dickey Funeral Home on Sunday, March 20, 2011 at 2:00 pm. Graveside Service will be at Rose Hill Cemetery in Ardmore, OK on Monday, March 21, 2011 at 2:00 pm. Memorials may be made to the American Legion Post #321, P.O. Box 861166, Plano, TX 75086.
