Martha was born in Sherman, Texas on September 2nd, 1928, the only child of Earnest Willard and Elsie Marie Dunn. She graduated from Sherman High School in 1945 and then attended North Texas State University. She married her High School sweetheart, Donald Ray Campbell in 1948 and moved to Washita, Oklahoma, where they had three children, Nancy Kay, Terry Ann, and Donald Ray Jr, between 1949 and 1958. Over the next few years, Don’s company transferred him several times – in 1959, the family moved to Tulsa, to Raytown, Missouri in 1962, and then they moved to the Netherlands in 1964, where they lived for two years before returning to the U.S. in 1966 and settling in Plano, Texas.
In the early 1980s, Martha and Don relocated to Houston for a few years, and then in 1985 they returned to their home in Plano. Don passed away the same year in December, and Martha continued to live there until her death on July 12th, 2023. While the kids were growing up, Don’s career as a Mechanical Engineer determined where the family lived, and Martha, with commitment and pride, kept her family secure and grounded by turning a house into a home each time they relocated. But Martha was not just a homemaker who stayed home and raised the kids – she was also an avid collector of antiques and period pieces who loved decorating. She enjoyed a rewarding career as an Interior Decorator that spanned her entire adult life.
Martha is survived by her three children, Nancy, Terry, and Don, ten grandchildren, and twenty-two great-grandchildren.
At this time, no services are scheduled.
