Born in Jeannette, PA, and most recently of Plano, TX, Mona lived life boldly, joyfully, and unapologetically.
A graduate of Plano Senior High School, she worked in the administrative side of the medical field but found her true joy in family, gardening, music, and laughter. Her green thumb was legendary—she could bring any plant back to life, especially her cherished "Old Joe."
Mona was the life of the party, known for her line dancing, big personality, and honest heart. She loved Elvis, George Strait, Earth, Wind & Fire, and Johnnie Taylor—and never turned down liver, Mexican food, or neck bones and greens.
She was a devoted mother to Jeff Turner Jr. and Shantel Turner, and a proud grandmother to Lexie, Trinity, Jamien, and Andreanna. Her greatest joy was her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William C. and Mona Joye Smith, and sisters Karen S. Smith-Rosamond and Kathleen Ruth Smith. She leaves behind many loving siblings: Lee M., Timothy C. (Charlene), William G. (Wendy), Marie E. (James), Melanie G., and James E. (Julie).
Toodles roared like a lion and loved like a lamb. Her spirit, laughter, and love will forever live on in those who knew her.
