Every great adventure comes to an end. For Phillip Nolin Radenbaugh, the great adventure through this life was full and complete. Phil left us on November 13, 2024. After 86 years, one could argue that it was time…but somehow it still feels too soon. Phil was born on a farm in Payne Ohio and if it was any indication of what lie ahead, after giving birth to the 13lb baby, they took his mom Addie to the hospital and left him at home with his father Ralph. Phil never forgot his rural roots and was forged as a young boy in the woods and on the water in Michigan where he grew up and would call home for half of his life. It is where he went to college (Central Michigan) and where he met and fell in love with Linda Shaver. We know that Phil is beside himself to be reunited with Linda who left us way too soon in 2014.
Phil started out life as a schoolteacher and never lost his love of teaching and passing along some knowledge or a helpful tip. He soon followed in his father’s footsteps as a sales rep for Parke-Davis which would lead to a 35+ year career and ultimately a move to Dallas in 1979 when the family planted their Texas roots. Phil and Linda were active in their community, made all the kids’ ballgames, and created a home where all were welcome. They also developed a love of traveling which led them to over 60 countries after Phil retired in the late 90s.
Phil was passionate about his career…about his stock portfolio…about hunting, fishing and anything outdoors, about tinkering, a good scotch whiskey and of course his family. He was full of life and never met a stranger. He looked you straight in the eyes and had a handshake to be remembered. To know Phil was to love him…and you certainly weren’t going to forget him.
He is preceded in death by his wife Linda, his parents Ralph and Addie Radenbaugh, and his brother Ralph Radenbaugh. He is survived by his children and their spouses Mark and Tammy, Greg and Kathy, and Jill and Monte), grandchildren (Dylan, Kendall, Cade, Sean, Nolan, Nicole, and Heather), sisters and their spouses (Doreatha and Greg, Deanna and Ron, and Denise and Jeff) as well as extended family and countless friends who are all left with special memories, great laughs and many stories. Those stories likely include a big family gathering, a hunting or fishing trip, time at the lake or on snowmobiles, or a great holiday dinner.
The good Lord has called this teacher, hunter, fisherman, salesman, parent, investor, brother, friend, and husband home. While we will miss him terribly, we know he is in better health and in a better place. One can only hope that they are ready for Phil around the big dinner table in heaven.
A Funeral Mass for Phil will be held at St. Gabriel the Archangel in McKinney, Texas on December 13th at 10:00am.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.TedDickeyFuneral.com for the family.
