

Dick was born January 1, 1931, to his parents Galiano and Geraldine in Columbus, Ohio. Dick married his high school sweetheart, Nancy Bishop (Stammler), and they were married for 64 years until she passed. They created a family and had their children Ric, Tommy, Jimmy, and Billy Bishop. He then assumed the role of beloved Grandpa/Popie to 10 grandchildren and 13 great- grandchildren. He also holds the role of son, brother, husband, father, uncle, grandpa, great grandpa, and godfather.
Dick’s greatest accomplishment and joy throughout his life was his family. He proudly served as the head of the family and coveted the position as family ambassador. He was known by family and loved ones as a sounding board and great mentor. Dick worked hard all throughout his life and blessed his family with the richest life of love and support. This was a gift not just limited to blood family, Dick was a surrogate father and uncle, and he provided the same love and support no different than family. Throughout his life he created a foundation of trust, love, commitment, loyalty, and joy that will continue to serve as his greatest legacy to the next generation and every generation to follow.
Dick had many roles and careers during his life but enjoyed construction which then became the family trade. He enjoyed excelling in this field and leaving a legacy of buildings that still stand today in multiple cities.
Growing up and raising a family in Columbus, Ohio, Dick became an avid Ohio State Buckeyes fan and enjoyed following and cheering them on. This became a characteristic that followed him while he moved around, and he continued to always support the home teams. Dick enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing and playing tennis and shared these passions with his family. In his spare time, Dick enjoyed creating new things and sharing those things with others. He developed the skill of cooking by trying new recipes and enjoyed having that meal around the table with loved ones. He liked planting flowers and tending to his garden where he loved to have conversations, a cigar, and a cup of coffee. Dick’s legacy will live on in every member of the family because he prioritized investing his time, love, and energy into everyone personally.
A Rosary for Dick will be held on Monday, September 15, 2025 from 6pm to 8pm at Ted Dickey Funeral Home, located at 2128 18th Street in Plano, TX 75074. A Funeral Mass will be held the next day, Tuesday, September 16, 2025 at 3pm at St. Mark the Evangelist Church, located at 1201 Alma Drive, Plano, TX 75075.
