My dad's birthday was yesterday (June 5, would be 95).  Was reminiscing about my family, and glanced at this Uncle Bob Boyle's memorial obituary site.  In every sense of the word, he is a hero, great dad and wife, and one of the funniest individuals I've ever known!

Chief, you always made me laugh when I would visit with you and my dad at Rosewood. You were a big flirt and knew how to make a lady smile. I will miss you, but am so very blessed to have known you and your wonderful family.  Take care of my dad, and you two stay out of trouble up there! As you would always say to me “I Love you Darlin” I’m saying it right back to you.

I worked with Bob from Mar '67 thru Aug 68.  He was a great soldier, leader and a good friend.  I also got to know Lynn after we returned from VN as they were frequent attendees at our 8/4th FA reunions.  I will miss him a lot especially his great sense of humor and the twinkle in his eyes.   RIP Bob.  You will be missed by all your soldier brothers.

I had the privilege of working with Bob during the years 1962/63.  Bob was always pleasant, capable and willing to do whatever was necessary to get the job done.  Of those that worked with him during that period, 3 of us remain and are in contact with each other.  Bob will be missed not only by the 3 of us but by his family to which he was totally dedicated.  I treasure the time we shared together.

Uncle Bob will be missed but never forgotten.  The things I remember most about him was his love for all his family, his lawn that would make Pebble Beach jealous and his wood working skills.  He would always make sure to keep in touch with our family every time he passed through New Orleans.  I cherished the times we spent on the lake catching speckled trout and redfish. After we’d clean the fish we would go hunting his favorite thing,  roast beef poboys. . He judged the quality of the sandwich by how far the gravy would run down  his forearm. I think he lived for those.  We were all very lucky to have had him in our lives. I’m feeling blessed that he was ours. R.I.P Chief.     Jimmy 

Bob was a part of my life for 47 years, and Grandfather to my children.  I loved him dearly. One of my favorite memories is of sitting on the beach in Gulf Shores, Alabama,  just "Chief" and me while he told me story after story about his service in Viet Nam. He had a way of drawing you in and brought humor to what must have been a harrowing experience.  He will be dearly missed.

Bob Boyle was one of my bosses at the Officer’s Club in Ludwigsburg, Germany. Through him I met his wife and babysat a few times for his children. This was in the early sixties.  Bob was fair as a boss and protective of his family life.  I have never forgotten him. 

Mr. Boyle was a unique individual. A great leader! I really appreciated his leadership in Vietnam. He always looked after the soldiers in his command. As a battalion maintenance group we did a good job maintaining the artillery fleet. He was key to making that happen. So glad I got to reunite with him after Vietnam. It has been a great pleasure for Hazel and I to get to know Bob's wife Lynn. I spoke to Bob by phone once. I ask what he had been doing.   He told me he was spending a lot of time on his knees, trying to get up those golden stairs. Well, he is there now. My prayer is that will be our next meeting place.
