Robert Allen WEAVER
June 11, 1935 – April 2, 2021
Robert A. “Bob” Weaver of Plano, Texas shuffled off this mortal coil in the early morning hours of April 2, 2021 at the age of 85 after a brief stay in the hospital. Born in Wellsburg, WV, Bob spent his formative years in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, where he was a first-team all-state basketball player and multi-sport star athlete. It is also where he met the love of his life and wife of 60 years, Barbara.
After college and a stint in the Army, in late 1963 Bob began a 33-year career with Simplex Industries. Being a good company man, he worked wherever and in whatever capacity he was needed. This took Bob and his family to many different places before settling in Plano in the late summer of 1976. A people-person with the gift of gab, Bob was extremely successful in his sales roles, being named Simplex’s Salesperson of the Year on multiple occasions. Outside of work, Bob loved sports. He was an avid golfer and a fan of Dallas Cowboys and Dallas Mavericks. As for college teams, he only rooted for the Razorbacks (Woo Pig Sooie) and whoever played Texas. He was a lover of western movies, particularly those starring John Wayne. He alsogenuinely loved to be around people. He told loved ones who left his house to drive safe and call him when they got there.
Bob is survived by his wife Barbara, son Rob and his wife Cheryle, daughter Kathy and her husband Wally, grandchildren Hannah and Michael, his sister Dawn Megee and her husband Mike, brother Jimmy Weaver and his wife Mari, brother ElecWeaver and his wife Carolyn and sister Margie Rabenold and her husband Marlyn and, also by numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews. Bob was so loved and he will be greatly missed.
Bob was a big supporter of junior golf, so In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in his memory to The First Tee of Dallas, which teaches children from all walks of life to play golf and live its values.
