Roger was born on April 8, 1938 in Aurora County, South Dakota, a son of his father Leonard Krell and his mother Louise (Lemcke) Krell.
He is preceded in death by his mother and father, one son, Heath Courtney Krell, who preceded him in death on August 27, 2021, and two sisters, Allene Krell and Marlene Bosworth.
Roger is survived by his wife, Gerry (Maciejewski/Amodeo) who he married on November 20, 1993.
He is also survived by five children – Trevor Krell, Heather Does, Deborah Powers, Diane Cloud, and Dawn Camargo and one brother, Richard Krell of Rifle Colorado.
He graduated from Plankinton South Dakota High School, class of 1956. He then went on to continue his education at South Dakota State College, graduating on June 6, 1960. Roger taught school at Wilmot High School, South Dakota in 1961 before joining the United States Air Force. As an Air Force pilot, he was stationed at Craig Air Force Base, Alabama; Tinker Air Force Base, Oklahoma; and Vietnam. During his Air Force career, he earned the following awards -- Air Force Outstanding Award, Small Arms Expert Marksman, and Vietnam Service Medal. Roger was honorably discharged in December 1966.
After returning home, Roger worked as a pilot with Braniff Airlines from 1966 – 1986. Before retiring in 2006, he worked as an independent contractor, and at various retail establishments to include Walnut Paint Store, Home Depot, and Elliott’s Hardware store as a paint specialist.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 6, 2022 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Ted Dickey Funeral Home, located at 2128 18th Street, Plano, Texas 75074.
The Funeral Service for Roger will be held on Wednesday, December 7, 2022 at 11:00 AM also at the Ted Dickey Funeral Home.
Cremation Rites will be accorded after the funeral service.
There will be an inurnment with full Air Force Military Honors at the Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery at a later date.
