

Ron was born on February 26, 1947, in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Born to parents, Robert E. Van Ryn Sr. and LenaBelle (Reason) Van Ryn, he was the second of six children.
Ron graduated from North Side High School in 1965. During his high school years, his basketball team went to the state championship, a very proud moment in his life. Ron then attended college on a basketball scholarship at Jacksonville Baptist College in Texas. Ron continued his education at California State University, Hayward earning his bachelor’s degree in history as well as a teaching credential.
Ron was married to Dolores (Medina) Van Ryn on July 15, 1989, in Fremont, California. They were married for 33 years. Ron lived and worked in Newark, California and moved to Frisco, Texas in 2013.
Ron was a beloved educator for 35 years, teaching in Newark, California both in elementary as well as secondary schools. Ron, “Mr. V” had a positive impact on both staff and students throughout his career, and was honored as “Teacher of the Year” for his school district. He loved coaching tennis and basketball at Newark Memorial High School as well. Ron enjoyed various sports and hobbies with both family and friends throughout his life; softball, golf, basketball, and tennis to name a few. Ron was an avid sports enthusiast, supporting his Golden State Warriors, and both bay area football and baseball teams. Fantasy Football was a passion of his; he had a vast knowledge of sports trivia as well as a love of music. In his retirement you could often find Ron at his local Starbucks wearing his favorite sports team apparel visiting with his favorite baristas.
Ron is preceded in death by his wife, Dolores (Medina) Van Ryn, his parents, LenaBelle (Reason) Van Ryn and Robert E. Van Ryn Sr., and his brothers, Michael L. Van Ryn and Kirk L. Van Ryn.
He is survived by his daughter, Amy Lynn (Van Ryn) Montoya (Frank) and his stepdaughter Danell (Leineke) Manchee (Jeff) and his beloved grandchildren, Nathan Stanton, Jacob Montoya, Samantha Montoya and Joshua Manchee.
His surviving siblings are Robert E. Van Ryn Jr., Sheldon S. Van Ryn, and Lori S. (Van Ryn) Davis.
Funeral and burial will take place in Hayward, California at a later date.
