Ruby A. McGehee

McGehee, Ruby Anastasia, 98 of Plano Texas, passed away May 29 2026 at her home, surrounded by her family. Born July 22 1927, in Alexandria, Louisiana, Ruby was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She met her soul-mate Sam when he graduated from LSU as a geophysicist. Ruby would later become a staunch LSU Tiger fan. They married and shared life’s memories over the next 57 years. Sam’s career began with Atlantic Petroleum, which would grow to become ARCO. Along with Sam, Ruby started out their life together in Beatrice Alabama - one of 56 moves the two would make with their growing family of 6 as he led his crew of doodle-buggers across the U.S. Those 56 moves often required acquiring a place on short notice and making day to day life a seamless transition for her children.

Ruby was the anchor for her family amidst Sam’s relocation heavy career. After Sam’s retirement, they settled down in Plano where together they enjoyed family and friends for 32 years. When Sam passed in 2004 Ruby became even more of an integral part of her children and grandchildren’s lives. Ruby will be sadly missed by her six children: Ted (deceased) and Ann, Tom and Rochelle, Sharon and Roland, Greg, Lori and Michael as well as her 9 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her four brothers and three sisters: Samuel, Benjamin, Murray, James, Dorothy, Frances, and Jeanette. Ruby will be laid to rest at Calvary Hill Funeral Home in Dallas Texas.
