

Sam was born on March 28, 1923 in Whitewright, Texas, a son of Sam C Horton Sr. and Lucy (Smith) Horton.
He married Adelia Lambert in November 1944 and was looking forward to their 70th wedding anniversary. She survives in Richardson.
Also surviving: Sam C Horton III and Diane of Plano, Charles Horton of Austin, Steve and Jan Horton of Marshall, a sister, Francis Dodson, 6 grandchildren, Toni Cook, Amanda Woodruff, Samantha Lovejoy, Barbara Cox, Joanna Hammond, Charla Horton, and 11 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by: his parents, Sam and Lucy Horton, and siblings, Eddie Chastain, Bessie Owens, Ruby Greer, Jessie Horton, and Howard Horton.
Sam was a member of Webb Chapel United Methodist Church and was a Deligate to the Methodist Conference.
As a young individual, Sam was foreced to quit school to help support his brothers and sisters, as well as all of his family.
He greatly enjoyed fishing, oil and water color painting, as well as calligraphy.
His family was his greatest achievement and he will be greatly missed by all that knew him.
A graveside service for Sam will be held on Thursday, July 17th at 11:00 A.M. at Grove Hill Memorial Park, located at 3920 Samuell Blvd, Dallas, TX 75228.
