

Sharla Maye Woods was born on May 4, 1952 in Gardena, California and passed away in Plano, Texas on July 3, 2015. Sharla was born to Margie Loraine and Jack Tewalt Sr. Sharla lived most of her early life in Southern California until she graduated high school. Upon graduating Sharla moved to Marshall, TX where she attended ETBU. Sharla graduated with a Bachelor’s in Science. Sharla worked for the state of Texas for 26 years with the Department of Human Services and as a Parole Officer. Sharla always enjoyed getting to read a good mystery novel. Some of her favorite authors were Sandra Brown, James Patterson, and Dean Koontz. When Sharla didn’t have her nose buried in a book, she could be found flipping the channel between her favorite sports teams. She loved watching the Texas Rangers and was a die-hard New Orleans Saints fan. Sharla’s legacy lives on through her daughter Krista Goodwin, and her daughter’s spouse, Kerri Goodson. Sharla also leaves behind her Brother William John Tewalt of Georgia, Sister Marlaine McCain-Helmick of California, and Brother James Thomas Scott of Virginia. Sharla goes on to join her brother Jack A Tewalt Jr., who passed away before her. In lieu of flowers the family asks that you make a donation to the National MS Society and multiple sclerosis research. A Celebration of Life is planned for Saturday, July 11th, at Downs Funeral Home in Marshall, Texas at 2 PM.
