

Sosamma completed her high school education in Kerala before moving to Mysore to attend nursing school. After graduating, she worked in New Delhi for a couple of years before immigrating to Canada, where she worked as a Registered Nurse for three years.
In 1968, she met her future husband, V.T. Samuel, in Hartford, Connecticut. With the blessing of Juhanon Mar Thoma Metropolitan, they were married at the Hartford Seminary Chapel on June 7, 1969, with Rev. K.T. Alexander officiating the traditional Mar Thoma wedding service.
The couple settled in Hartford, where their first child, Lisa, was born in 1970. In 1974, they moved to Ruston, Louisiana, where they would live for 28 years. During this time, their sons, Thomas (1975) and James (1976), were born, and Sosamma worked for 25 years at Lincoln General Hospital as an ICU nurse and then ICU head nurse before finishing her career as a cardiac rehab nurse.
From 2002 to 2007, they lived in Kuttikkanam, Kerala, where V.T. served as Director of Social Work at Marian College. During that time Sosamma championed the establishment of a first aid center for the Marian College students, utilizing her decades of nursing experience and serving in a voluntary capacity.
In 2007, V.T. and Sosamma returned to the United States and resided in Murphy, Texas. They later moved to Mississippi in 2008, where V.T served as a visiting professor at Rust College. In 2013, they relocated to Houston, Texas, before returning to Murphy, Texas in 2016.
Throughout her life, Sosamma was a devoted follower of Christ. She attended Sehion Mar Thoma Church and the Gethsemane Prayer Group in Plano, Texas. She was a loving and caring woman, always generous to those in need, whether in the United States or India. Her heart was open to helping others, and her compassion touched many lives.
Sosamma is preceded in death by her parents, K.V. Chacko and Mariamma Chacko; her brother, K.C. Varughese; and her sister, Aleyamma Chacko Jacob. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, V.T. Samuel; daughter, Rachel Lisa Samuel-Koshy (Ajith); sons, Thomas Samuel (Anna) and James Samuel (Dana); grandchildren, Noah, Bella, and Jaya; and numerous brothers and sisters in laws, cousins, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends across the United States and elsewhere.
Sosamma passed after living a life full of service, dedication, and love. She was a beloved wife, mother, motherly figure, and friend, cherished by all who knew her.
The family thanks everyone for their continued prayers and support and for being a part of her life.
In place of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital in her memory.
A visitation for Sosamma will be held Saturday, March 8, 2025 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Sehion Mar Thoma Church, 3760 14th St, Plano, TX 75074. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM, leading to a graveside service afterwards at Plano Mutual Cemetery, 2128 18th St, Plano, TX 75074.
