Steve Zober was born into a secular Jewish family on January 10, 1950, in Los Angeles, California. He had a wholesome "Leave It to Beaver” kind of upbringing. Steve was a very happy young boy. This nice Jewish boy loved to sing Christmas carols, but he didn’t understand yet their significance.
With the encouragement of Steve’s grandmother, he went to Israel for a summer. He would end up staying in Israel for five years. He became an Orthodox Jew for a while. He also spent some time living on a Kibbutz, a communal style farm.
After five years, Steve returned to the United States and gave up the religious life. However, God another plan for Steve. He learned about God’s New Covenant of the heart. God showed Steve the truth and he asked Jesus Christ into his heart as his Jewish Messiah, Lord and Savior. That day was Monday, May 29, 1978.
Steve studied to become a Respiratory Therapist. His career scripture was, “Let everything that hath breath praise the Lord!” Eventually, Steve joined and graduated from the Calvary Chapel School of Ministry! While still a student, he became the school’s Hebrew teacher, utilizing the Hebrew he had learned during his time in Israel.
Another favorite scripture of Steve’s was Romans 8:28, “All things work together for the good of those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.” Steve found that to be very true as he walked with his Messiah, Jesus.
Steve’s greatest love in life was his Messiah. He was welcomed into heaven by His Lord and Savior on April 26, 2025. His next greatest loves were his wife Gail, and his daughter, Sharon, who both will continue to cherish his memory until they are reunited together again in heaven.
