

Born in Mexia, TX on May 7,1940 to Charles Phillip and Mary Elizabeth Ballard.
He graduated from Mexia High School, attended Navarro College and received a bachelor’s degree at Dallas Baptist University. He married Martha Cox on December 4, 1965. He was a man of character and kindness, a lifelong Methodist, and an avid sports fan.
He was employed in Dallas by Southern Union Gas Co. for over 6 years before going to work for the Dallas County Community College District in 1967. He was employed there for 44 years until he retired in August 2011. During retirement he enjoyed attending grandchildren’s sporting events, meeting fellow co-workers for monthly lunch visits, watching old westerns, reading and spending time with family.
He is survived by his loving wife, Martha, and three daughters. Laurie and husband Craig Fatla of Princeton, Karen and Tim Confer of Austin, and Jenny and husband Greg Molo of Frisco. Grandchildren include Preston Fatla, Holly Koehn, Lauren Fazio, Jenna Young, Mason Confer, Brennan Dillard, Haley Carmona, Caleb Molo, Marissa Molo and Makayla Molo. Also survived by eleven great-grandchildren.
He is also survived by a sister Diane and husband Bill May and a brother Danny and wife Nancy Ballard. As well as a number of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Beverley McCloud and brother Jerry Ballard.
