She is survived by her spouse, Steven Messerly; her mother and stepfather, Joan and Don West; her half-sister and brother-in-law, Melanie and Tim Farmakes; and their sons, Luke and Zack Farmakes. She is also survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Aaron and Kim Whitesell; her brother and sister-in-law, Jeffrey and Kim Keup; her goddaughter, Kyleigh Keup; nephews, Taylor and Connor Keup; nephew, Braedon Tracey; niece, Cameron Tracey; and her sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Colleen and Walter Witmer.
Tracey was preceded in death by her father, Robert Keup.
Tracey was born in Superior, WI on January 7, 1965 to Joan Cohen and Robert Keup. She moved down to Texas in 1980 the same year her spouse did. Fate must have played a part in their union as the lived within a mile of each other when they first moved down. They met working at a local grocery store and were married on October 9, 1993 and had 30 plus years of love together.
Tracey learned early on that she had inherited Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD) from her father. This disease is terminal and causes end stage renal disease. She started to get sick when she turned 45 and had to endure years of dialysis and was lucky enough to get a transplant in 2014. The last 15 years were very hard on her with all the hospitalizations and operations-we spent more anniversaries, birthdays and holidays in hospitals than at home. She was in the hospital for 8 months in 2021 with collapsed lungs in a coma. She survived the ordeal with the help of Dr. Alan Shulkin at Medical City of Dallas. We can never give enough praise and credit to him for saving her life.
As for her last wishes, Tracey would want everyone to be an organ donor and donate to the PKD organization to help find a cure for this terrible disease that took her way too soon from us.
