

Plano – Victor Perry Blackwell (V.P.B.), aged 84, passed away on December 11, 2011 at home in Plano, Texas. He was born on December 30, 1926 in Calvert City, Kentucky, the eighth of ten siblings of Ernest Blackwell and Hattie Lee Dubuque. He attended Marshall County Schools and worked on the family farm. Victor entered military service in March of 1945 and went through basic training at Camp Gordon, Georgia. Upon completion of training, he was sent to serve in the Pacific Theater. With the war ending in September of 1945, he was assigned to the 51st ordnance company in New Caledonia, which disposed some of the arsenal assembled for the invasion of Japan. Victor was discharged on March 7, 1947, where he returned to the family farm. Victor married Mary Catherine Cronin on June 11, 1949 and they were married for sixty-two years. Victor, by trade, was an Iron Worker and was a life-long member of Iron Workers Local #782. He retired in 1983 to work in his wood shop, making various types of crayon holders for Outback Steakhouse Restaurants. Victor and Mary moved to Plano in 2009 to be near their children and grandchildren.
Survivors: Mary Catherine Cronin (V.C.C.B.), wife of sixty-two years; daughter Victoria Auchenbach and husband Mike of Plano, TX; son Brian Blackwell and wife, Deena of Grapevine, TX; Grandchildren, Sean Auchenbach of New York City, NY, Lauren Auchenbach of Plano, TX and Kaitlin Blackwell of Grapevine, TX; sister, Mary Frances Harris of Murray, KY and various Nieces and Nephews.
Memorials: The family has requested that memorial gifts be sent to Faith Presbyterian Hospice, located at 4350 Sigma Rd, Suite 400, Dallas, TX, 75244. They have been comforting to us in our time of need.
The family wants to thank Comfort Keepers, specifically Victoria Ross, Sue Sternhagen and Laura. They have been a tremendous help.
Memorial Service: The Blackwell Family will hold a memorial service for Victor in Kentucky for family and friends in 2012.
