Wynona Louise Hall was born on July 14, 1939, in Cumby, Hopkins County, Texas. She was the ninth of ten children born to George and Anna Hall. She would often reminisce and tell stories about her childhood in the Cumby area, where her parents were cotton share-croppers. She loved to play with her siblings and her beloved dog Snips, who was half wolf and half German shepherd. When she could, she enjoyed going to see Roy Rodgers and Dale Evans westerns.
On September 7, 1955, she married Alfred “Sonny” Patterson; the two had met through a local church’s youth group. They went on to have four children together: Alfred Stanley, Dianna Lynn, Brian Alan, and Melissa Darlene.
Her work ethic was second to none. When she was 13, she convinced a local diner manager that she was 16, and took her very first job as waitress. During the better part of her adult life, she often held two jobs to make sure her family had everything that they needed. She worked as a cafeteria lady in Plano ISD for 20 years; she also held a part time job at the East Plano Bingo for 26 years, working there until she was 77 years old.
Throughout her life, Wynona was strong woman who loved her family and the Lord. Even as a busy mother of four, she devoted time in her day to prayer and Bible study. Her home church for over 30 years was Abundant Life United Pentecostal Church (later Life Central). She set a high standard as a godly, family woman and was loved by all who knew her.
She is preceded in death by her parents, George Hall and Anna Wilson Hall, and her brothers, David, Truman, Alvin, Ray, Clyde, Bobby, Boyd, and Melvin Hall. She is survived by her children, Stanley Patterson, Dianna Nulisch, Brian Patterson, and Melissa Patterson; one granddaughter, Sarah Nulisch; her sister, Lorene Hall Martin; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
