
Anita Thompson, 86 of Plant City departed this life Sunday, November 28, 2010. Born in Pensacola, FL to Harvey and Vivian Wilkinson. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Harold F. Thompson, two daughters, Amy Thompson of Tucker, GA and Alice Thompson Dorking of Norcross, GA, brother, Howard E. Wilkinson of Cocoa, FL, two grandchildren, Henry and Kathlene Dorking and many loving brother, sister, and son-in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Anita was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Plant City, and taught children’s Sunday School there for many years. She was a previous member of Methodist churches in Pensacola and Lakeland, FL.
She served in the Hospital Auxiliary at the former South Florida Baptist Hospital and was a member of Beta Sigma Phi sorority for over 50 years. She was also a member at the Society of Mayflower Descendants and the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution. Anita was a former nurse and trained at the Chicago Art Institute. She had a lifelong interest in and supported efforts on behalf of Native Americans and women in the arts.
As a loving friend and relative she will be sorely missed. A service to celebrate her life was held on Monday, December 6th, at Wells Memorial Funeral Home. Much gratitude and thanks go to all those involved in Anita’s care and she would thank all friends and family that made hers “a life worth living.”
