

At preschool age, she moved to Tampa with her mother, Winifred (Winks), Father Bill and Older brother Peter Bush. She attended Robinson High School in Tampa and was salutatorian of her graduation class in 1966. She was an exceptional student throughout high school, achieving straight A's. She was then accepted into the nursing program at University of Florida and got her Bachelor's degree in nursing, once again achieving high grades and stayed on at University of Florida to get her Master's degree in nursing.
Barbara worked as a nurse practitioner in psych for 27 years at Tampa Veterans Hospital, retiring in 2000 with numerous awards and commendations.
She was a devoted wife of Sam Kroll, a doting mother to Meredith and David, and an adoring grandmother to Caroline, Marlowe, and Margaret. Around 2021, Barbara was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease and went into assisted living in late 2022. Her Parkinson's progressed slowly but relentlessly. She passed into the next life on Wednesday, Sept. 2nd, 2026, quietly at the assisted living facility under hospice care.
Barbara leaves behind her husband, daughter, son, three granddaughters, one brother, and numerous friends from work, church, and neighborhoods. She is greatly loved and missed.
A Funeral Mass will take place on Tuesday, September 15, 2026 at 12:00 p.m. at Nativity Catholic Church, 705 E. Brandon Blvd., Brandon, Florida 33511 with a reception to follow.
In lieu of flowers, guests may donate to Tunnel To Towers Foundation or St Jude's Children's Hospital, Two of Barbara's favorite charities.
