As one of six children, Buck grew up in a military family and attended Heidelberg American High School in Heidelberg, Germany, graduating in 1965. Once back stateside, he attended and graduated from Florida Southern College, class of 1969. He was then commissioned into the U. S. Army, where he served his country honorably from 1969 to 1971, stationed in the Demilitarized Zone during the Vietnam Era.
Buck worked in the banking industry for most of the 1970’s, first at First National Bank of Tampa, then at Barnett Bank and Landmark Bank of Tampa. He subsequently purchased a plant nursery and went into the plant and landscaping business for many years. Later in life, he was employed by Hillsborough County government, retiring as the county’s Property Manager in 2007. He was also a member of the Ybor City Rotary Club for many years and served as an usher at Lake Magdalene United Methodist Church.
Buck greatly enjoyed spending time with his family riding side-by-sides and Jeeps in the North Georgia mountains, boating the lakes and rivers of Floral City and Inverness, and in the Ocala National Forest exploring in his beloved 1975 Toyota Land Cruiser. He loved Atlanta Braves baseball, Tampa Bay Buccaneers football, and NASCAR races. (Go Chase Elliott!).
He is survived by his loving wife, Lynne, of nearly 40 years; children, Katy Patrick of Wesley Chapel, Anne Harvester of Tampa, Ryan Harvester (Andrea) of Seffner, and Billy Harvester (Rachael) of Plant City; as well as his grandchildren, Drew, Dash, Ariel, Levi, Macon and Dalton, who affectionately knew him as “Papa Oh-My”. He is also survived by his brother, Bryan Allen Harvester, and sister and brother-in-law Paulette (Earl) Lawton, as well as a large extended family of nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, June 30th, 2026, starting with visitation with the family at 10:00 a.m. and services at 11:00 at Wells Memorial, 1903 W. Reynolds Street, Plant City, Florida 33563. Military Honors will be rendered immediately following the service.
