Colquitt Clark, age 91, of Plant City, FL, passed away after an extended illness on October 27, 2024. Born on September 15, 1933, to Colquitt and Anna Clark in Nashville TN, his formative years were spent in various locations in the US southeast. Coke graduated from high school in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, and he went on to study Political Science at the University of Alabama. On receiving his Bachelor’s degree, he served in the US Air Force as a fighter pilot and flight instructor in Fürstenfeldbruck, Germany. After his military duty, he completed his master’s degree at Springfield College while also beginning his career with the YMCA. He continued his life of service to others by dedicating most of his career to the YMCA. Coke wanted to work with youth again, so after retiring from the YMCA, he became the Assistant Dean of Students and Director of Resident Life at Samford University. After retiring, he continued working in a volunteer capacity for Kiwanis, including a term as Governor of the Alabama District.
Coke had an adventurous spirit for travel, paired with the meticulous planning of a pilot. He had a lifelong love of camping and youth leadership, leaving behind a legacy of exploration and a love for the great outdoors.
He is survived by his wife, Mary “Molly” Clark; his two sons, Edward (Jennifer) Clark, and Gary (Lisa) Clark; his granddaughter, Sarah; and beloved dog, Bonnie.
May Coke rest in eternal peace, and may his memory inspire others to continue exploring and appreciating the wonders of the world that he so much embraced.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to YMCA Blue Ridge Assembly, a cause that has been dear to the Clark family for generations, and which was recently devastated by Hurricane Helene.
