David Scot Briest, age 34, was born and raised in the Tampa area, Florida, and passed away on August 2, 2024, at Brandon Hospital. David was born July 15, 1990, to William (Bill) and Pamila (Pam) Briest. He grew up in Thonotosassa, Florida, where he graduated from Armwood High School. In 2012, David decided to start Briest Automotive after working at Outback Steakhouse in Brandon, FL, throughout high school. David and his dad built Briest Automotive from the ground up, starting as a mobile automotive business built on doing everything with excellence.
David is survived by his loving wife, Karisa, and two sons, Josiah and Silas; his parents, Bill and Pam Briest; his brother, Jack and Rachel (his wife) Briest; two nieces, Cora and Eliana. Along with his paternal grandparents, Milfred and Ruth Briest, we include his Aunt Tammy, Uncle Jeries (Michael, George and Riya) as well as Karisa's parents Randy and Debbie (Justin and Brandon), Chris and Ginger, Alexis and Dillon (Hayden and Stella), MacKenzie and Jake (Remi) are all a huge part of his family.
David was a man of few words, but the depth of any words he chose to say was great. As he got cancer he became a man of many words, talking more with his wife and family about his aspirations for his kids, work, and family. He wanted Josiah to be able to play hockey one day. He would daydream about what Silas would turn to with his high-energy personality. David wanted to participate in fostering with his wife, and he wanted his business, with his dad, to soar! David also wanted every life that touched his life to believe and receive Christ as their personal Savior as well as be a part of their salvation in any way that he could.
There was a deep meaning to everything he said and did. When he spoke, there was a point. David barely dreamed at night, but when he dreamed there was always meaning behind it. Everything he said had purpose and everyone knew it. That's one reason why everyone was so drawn to him, he could lead any crowd with his words and passion.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on August 17, 2024, at Bell Shoals Church, 2102 Bell Shoals Road, Brandon, FL 33511, in the Chapel. Family will have a special time together at 2pm and then we will start the Celebration Service with friends at 2:30pm. Please join the family for fellowship in the Special Events Center, at the church, immediately following the service.
A life lived, blessings given, hardships endured, knowledge shared, encouragement bestowed, compassion unending, faith garnished in love are just some of the attributes David's life was built upon. To all he hoped he would give you whatever was needed to bless your life. To him even work meant first to be there for you personally. We hope that everyone was and is still encouraged by the life he lived.
