Donald Olds

4/16/1933 - 8/20/2026

Our beloved father and grandfather, passed after 94 years filled with adventure, hard work, love and family.

Born on April 16, 1933, Don was the only son born to Roger and Ethel (Shanks) Olds in New Castle, Indiana.

Don left home at an early age and moved to Danville, Illinois where he met and married Ina G. (Netherton) Olds in 1950. Beginning a devoted marriage that would span seven decades and three daughters.

Raised with a strong work ethic, Don worked hard to build a life he could be proud of. After working a variety of jobs at a young age, Don retired after a long career as a Line Supervisor/Forman from Illinois Power in 1998.

Outside of his career, Don enjoyed woodworking, fishing, hunting, traveling and card playing. Don took great pride in his analytical mind that enabled him to fix or make just about anything.

Don was proceeded in death by his parents Roger and Ethel Olds, his wife Ina Olds, his youngest daughter Kimela Shapuras and four of his sisters, Marjorie Donavan, Roberta Gaston, Juanita Owens and Carolyn Cole.

Don is survived by two of his daughters; Pamela Hayes and Cheryl Cassel; seven grandchildren, Jenny Cortez, Christy Moore, Nicole Hovsepian, Dawn Young, Cory Nigra, Amber Worley and Kati Roberts; twelve great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one sister Judith Simpson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Don will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his family and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
