

Edward was born December 2, 1943 in Bonifay/Graceville, Florida to J.B. and Mary Baxley. He grew up to become Valedictorian of Poplar Springs High School in 1962. He then moved to Plant City in 1964 where he met and married the love of his life, Bessie Baxley. After serving in the U.S. Army in Panama and achieving the rank of Sergeant, Ed became a Boilermaker with the Local 433. When Ed retired, he enjoyed spending time with family and friends, traveling, fishing and reading. He was an avid Nascar and football fan, but his true devotion was to his grandchildren, the center of his life.
Ed is preceded in death by his; mother, Mary Baxley Peters, his father, J.B. Baxley, his step-father, John Peters, and brothers, Kenneth Peters and James L. Baxley. He is survived by his sister, Yvonne Carswell, brothers; Bill Baxley, Wayne Peters and Charles Peters, his wife of 47 years, Bessie Baxley, his daughter Jennie Baxley-Boll (Harry), and sons Darren Baxley (Karen) and J.B. Baxley (Michelle). He is also survived by his grandchildren; Jessica Baxley, Lauren Baxley, Jacob Baxley, Bryanna Bailey, Logan Baxley and Dalton Boll.
Visitation were held on Thursday, February 9, 2012 from 6-8 p.m. at Wells Memorial Funeral Home in Plant City, FL. Funeral services were on Friday, February 10, 2012 at 12 noon at Wells Memorial Funeral Home with Pastor Mathew Genrich officiating. Interment was at Bethlehem Cemetery in Dover, FL where he was laid to rest under a large cypress tree.
