SIMMONS Sr., Gerald Auther, age 77, of Okeechobee, FL passed away on Tuesday, November 24, 2015. He was born in Plant City, FL. Gerald was an operating engineer. Earlier in life he was a rodeo cowboy. He enjoyed Nascar, Lake Okeechobee, and fishing with his best friend Roger. Some of his favorite foods was the fried oysters and hushpuppies at Lightsey’s Seafood Restaurant.
Gerald was preceded in death by his parents, Thelma and Booth Whitehead and grandparents, Authur and Leatha Idell Kelley. Survivors include Sandy, his wife of 17 years; one son, Gerald Arthur Simmons Jr. (Kaleigh); daughters: Charity Christal Lomax (Greg Hopper), Kelly Michelle Hopper (Jason), Tara Jean Teti; seven grandchildren: Shelby, Jonah, Hailey, Drew, Joe, Daniel, and Brett, and one great-grandchild, Luka.
Visitation with family and friends will be held at Wells Memorial and Event Center on Saturday, November 28, 2015 from 10am to 11am. Funeral services will begin at 11am with Pastor Joe Bowles officiating. Burial will be at East Oaklawn Cemetery.
