Irma Cone Moody

MOODY, Irma Cone, age 99, went to be with her Lord and Savior on October 14, 2013. Born in Worth County, Georgia in 1914, she graduated from high school in Darien, Georgia and subsequently received her degree from Georgia State College for Women, majoring in Latin, French and English. She taught school in Georgia and Florida.

Irma was preceded in death by her husband, James S. Moody Sr., in 2001 after 62 years of marriage. She is survived by three children, Carole M. Shelton, James S. Moody Jr. (Kelli), William C. Moody Sr. (Sandra); eight grandchildren, Jennifer S. Mallan, Mark Shelton, Stephanie S. Kilton, Ashley M. Duralia, James S. Moody III, Patricia M. McNabb, William C. Moody Jr., Ryan Fulcher; and fourteen great-grandchildren. Active in community affairs, Irma served as PTA President, Jr. and Sr. Woman’s Club President, and was a member of the Plant City Planning Board for seven years. She was President of the Presbyterian Women of the Church on three different occasions, and was a Bible and Sunday School teacher for many years.

Visitation with family and friends will be 5pm to 7pm on Thursday, October 17, 2013 at Wells Memorial and Event Center. A funeral service will be held at 10am on Friday, October 18, 2013 at First Presbyterian Church in Plant City. Burial to follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to First Presbyterian Church or Christian Family Church, Tampa, which her granddaughter pastors.
