Rev. James Leon Stuart Sr. went to be with the Lord on Monday evening, January 21, 2013. He was born in Damascus, GA on March 21, 1917. He was preceded in death by his parents, James W. and Lincey Tatum Stuart, one sister, Lillian, one brother, Bill Stuart and one great-granddaughter, Beatrice Chauncey. Rev. Stuart is survived by his beloved wife of 71 years, Rev. Verna Ethelene Stuart, one daughter, Miriam Chauncey Pace (Grover) of Plant City, FL, two sons, James Leon Stuart, Jr. (Sandra) and Joel C. Stuart (Maria) of Fleming Island, FL; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was a beloved pastor for over 40 years and was ordained with the International Pentecostal Holiness Church for 60 years. He loved fishing, gardening, playing his guitar and singing. He was greatly loved by all that knew him.
Visitation will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 25, 2013 with a funeral service to follow at 12:00 noon, at Wells Memorial Funeral Home.
A visitation will be held in Jacksonville on Monday, January 28, 1:00 p.m. at Hardage-Giddens Town & Country Funeral Home with a service at 2:00 p.m., interment to follow at Riverside Memorial Park in Jacksonville.
