He graduated from Rehobeth High School in 1959. He joined the Navy in 1965 and served for 10 years. He is a Vietnam Veteran and was awarded the National Defense Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal.
He worked as a dragline operator and heavy machinery mechanic.
He was actively involved with his farming and gardening.
James enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren Ella Jean, Ashton and Jonah.
He is preceded in death by his mother Gladys Womble, father Rufus Womble and brother John Womble
He is survived by his brothers Larry and Bill Womble, Sister Martha Clark, His wife Ann Womble, children Anna Womble and James Womble Jr. and 3 grandchildren.
A committal ceremony for James Stanley Womble will be held at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida. The service is scheduled for October 14, 2025, starting at 12:30 p.m. Interment to follow at Bushnell National Cemetery.
