

John first retired as a Master Sergeant from the U.S. Air Force in which he served during the Korean Conflict and Vietnam War where he received the Bronze Star. After his service with the USAF, he moved to Florida and worked another 22 years with the Hillsborough County School System.
John was preceded in death by his parents Alma and John Faulkenberry; siblings Sarah, Mary, Joe and Paul; and by his first wife Norma (d.2004). His survivors include his loving wife Gwendolyn; children Deryl (Suzy) Faulkenberry of Dade City, Suzanne (Michael) Hughes of Woodstock, Georgia; step-son Johnny (Wendy) Parton of Zephyrhills; grandchildren Mallory Faulkenberry Evans, Taylor Hughes and Matthew Hughes; siblings Sylvia (Richard) Rape and Linda Everall of Lancaster, SC, Thomas (Helen) Faulkenberry of Panama City, Florida; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held at First Thonotosassa Missionary Baptist Church, 10650 McIntosh Road, Thonotosassa, FL 33592 on Friday, October 27, 2023 at 2 p.m. where he was a member. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Thonotosassa Missionary Baptist church Building Fund or to your favorite charity. A private burial service will be held at a later date at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida.
