At his funeral his helmet and jersey was on his casket. I touched his helmet for everyone that was teammates with him at MAC. We stayed friends long after MAC and I think about him every day since he left us. I will forever miss him and our long talks after our games as coaches. I keep trying to replay our last conversation we had a few weeks ago. He told me he was going to come to my teams spring game in may and i wasn't sure if he would make it. Now I know he will be there and for every other game i coach from now on. He was my boy and I miss him.

My condolences to both families.  I was a friend and teammate of Kenny's at Mac.  He was a genuine great guy that came to better himself and in turn bettered those around him.  You could say he was the definition of Mac pride and he will be missed by his family from up north.

I had the opportunity to be one of Ken's assistant managers at Wal- Mart. The gentle Giant is how I pictured him.   His spirit and soul will flourish, I was deeply saddened of this news. I prayed hard that day for the lord above to provide strength for his loved ones during this time. My deepest condolences to his family, his friends and co-workers. God bless...

I met Kenny at MacMurray College, where Kenny was a great team-mate and an awsome person.  In the years I knew him, Kenny worked hard on the football field and in school.  He worked hard to be the best person he could be.  There wasn't anything, he wouldn't do for a friend.  He was truely one of the kindest people I have ever met.  As I said before, he worked hard and achieved much, and the world could use more people like Kenny.  I am sure he will be missed by everyone that knew him.  Please know that our thoughts and prayers are with you.

A letter to Kenneth David Simmons
Dear David,
I came into this family after you were grown so much of what I know about you was from the stories that your mother and aunts told. I liked the story about how mad they were at you when you and your friends were wrestling and broke the bed, which sounds like something that my brother and I did when we were younger. I remember my first meeting with you; the room was filled with presents. I could tell at that time you were a special person in the eyes of your family.  I remember the stories about how you would smile ear to ear after you football team would win a big game. I was also told of the sadness felt when a boy was sent off across the country to attend college.  A few days after I married your aunt Sheila I was told that I had to watch her kids she was going to go to your graduation. When we were at the airport with her sisters I knew the fear they felt about flying but there was no way they were going to miss the first family member graduating from college it was there David. I saw the joy, fear of flying, and the pride they all felt. When you returned you were given the black mustang. Oh how proud you were of that car. However the next few times you came over there was always a problem with the car a bumper missing a new dent in each finder that is when Sheila told me you had a problem with your eyes and could not see after dark.  Uncle Walt told about time you were playing ball after dark he had to go find you when you went looking for the ball because he knew you could not see much after dark. 
David I wanted to let you know that the journey  you are now taking you are not taking it alone you have a piece of every love ones heart right there with you. It is with love that I say not goodbye but see you later my friend.
