Millicent Grey Houck, 91, passed away into the Lord’s arms on Saturday, January 12, 2019. Millicent was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, and a faithful Christian in the LCMS Lutheran Church. Millicent was born in Nickell, Kentucky in 1927, she was the daughter of Tinsley T. and Thelma C. Walters. She moved to Ohio nine years later and eventually graduated in business from Miami-Jacobs Career College in Dayton, Ohio, and served as the head cashier for a finance company.
Millicent was preceded in death by her siblings Allegra Schlotterbeck (Robert), Lenore Maripuu, and Arthur Walters. She is survived by her husband Reverend Linford Houck; children Pamela K. Mesa and Linford Alan Houck (Monique); grandchildren Rachel Fernandez and Micaela Houck; great grandchildren, Kristin Fernandez, Alexander Fernandez, Lindsay May; brother Kenneth Walters, and many nieces and nephews. Millicent loved to read, especially western novels and mysteries and also loved to teach others how to read.
She was devoted to her church, and also loved cooking, travel, gardening, being a mother and grandmother, and being surrounded by her family and friends. She is greatly loved and missed by all and is now in the presence of the Lord. The visitation hour will begin at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, January 16, 2019 at Hope Lutheran Church on Park Rd. in Plant City, Florida, followed by her funeral and committal ceremony beginning at 2:00 PM, Pastor Dean Pfeffer presiding.
