Dale and I both met Shirley (and Dave)in California over 20 years ago. From the moment I met her, I knew there was something "different" and "special" about her. I would tell people that she was the nicest lady I had ever met! She and Dave led both my husband Dale and I to the Lord, prayed with us and for us, took us on mission trips, taught us puppets, fed us often, mentored us, and loved us like family. They signed our guest book Mom and Dad Vick and my children call them Grandma and Granpa. That something "special" about Shirley was the Lord! She always had a kind word, was generous, loving, compassionate, and I am so thankful she was my friend! A lot of who I am today in the Lord is because of Shirley! I will miss her tremendously, but am so thankful knowing I will have eternity with her. Our love and prayers are with you, Dave, and family.

To the Vick Family - This is Cathy Kuriyama (formerly Rubin). I met Shirley in California. I have wonderful memories of Shirley. I remember Shirley (and Dave) hosting my first baby shower. It was co-ed. Shirley was so loving and giving. I always felt at home with Shirley. I fondly remember visiting her and Dave in Pawnee, Illinois and in Plant City, Florida. I will never forget her kindness, EXCELLENT COOKING, and warm encouragement. Seeing her picture on this website brought tears to my eyes but I look forward to seeing her again someday.
