She was born on August 22,1935 in Montrose, Georgia to Eli and Emma Lou Vanlandingham.
She relocated to Lakeland Florida where she graduated High School, met the love of her life, and then eventually married: Thomas E. Yates of Plant City.
Shirley was a meticulous artist in multitudes of hobbies and shared her creations to friends and family worldwide. Shirley sang like an angel, rolled a bowling ball like a pro, and is acknowledged by family to “have caught the largest Bass of all of us”.
Her “old school” knowledge, techniques, and beliefs will be missed by the young ones that survive her: Sons, Alan and Jimmy, Grand kids Amy, Brandi, Samantha, Kayla and Tyler, four Great Grandchildren.
She is also survived by her Brother Curtis Vanlandingham and several Nieces and nephews who also share the long lost “old School” values of Shirley’s generation.
Granny’s legacy carries on through us all.
A visitation for Shirley will be held Friday, May 9, 2025 at 9:00 a.m. Following the visitation will be a funeral service beginning at 10:00 a.m. at Wells Memorial Funeral Home, Plant City, Florida.
Shirley will be laid to rest in Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, Florida.
