Tom Thomas

On Saturday, October 22, Tom Thomas, a beloved husband, father and grandfather went to sleep in death at the age of 95. He was born to Minnie Jonas and Herbert Thomas, the youngest of 12 siblings. As a youth he worked as a tenant farmer. At 19 he enlisted in the Army during WWII and worked as a transporter. After the war Tom went to Bethune Cookman to study culinary arts and worked as a cook for the VA Hospital for many years. In 1948 he married Minnie Lee Groom and out of that union he had one son and four daughters.

On July 25,1975 Tom was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses. He was a cherished member of the Plant City South congregation and served as ministerial servant for over 20 years. He enjoyed sharing his faith with others and teaching about God's Kingdom. In 1997 he married Mary Joice Sykes and they recently celebrated their 25th anniversary.

Tom was a generous caring person, always willing to lend a hand to help family friends and neighbors. He enjoyed cooking, fishing, watching reruns of Andy Griffith and Gomer Pyle. He was an avid gardener and loved baking delicious 7-up cakes, and building miniature homes out of popsicle sticks.

He will be remembered for his handsome smile, his generous spirit, and his determined nature. His sincere Bible-based hope is to be resurrected and to live forever in paradise on Earth. We look forward to seeing him again when there will be no more death, sorrow or pain.

He is predeceased in death by his son Lendrick Thomas.

He is survived by his wife Joice Thomas: his daughters: Linda Thomas, Patricia Thomas Brady (Raymond), Pilar Evette Thomas Burrows (Pembrook), Tacoma Sharlene Thomas Robinson (Ronald); his bonus-children: Tania Syeks-Jones (Anthony), Louis Sykes (April), Michael Sykes; 26 grandchildren;36 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins included his devoted niece Liz Ferrell.

Services will be Saturday, November 12th, 2022, 1:30 PM at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses
