William Andrew Benton, Sr.

Bill lived each day in the light of the Lord and loved his family and friends fiercely. He was deeply proud of his nearly 30 years of dedicated service as a Deputy with the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office. In 1982, Bill became a member of Kings Avenue Baptist Church (Generations) and, two years later, married the love of his life, Kathy, in that very church.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Arley and MaryLou Benton; brother, Brian Benton; and niece, LouAnn Benton.

He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Kathy Benton; children Heather Martin (Logan), William Andrew Benton Jr. (Hope), and Brian Benton (Sara); and grandchildren Michael Marino, Logan Martin Jr. (Kayla), Hunter Martin, Wyatt Martin, and Joseph Benton. He is also survived by brothers Randall Benton (Karla) and Larry Benton (Yvonne); niece Brooke Benton; nephews Arley Benton (Sydney) and Scott Benton (Camilla); stepbrothers Patrick Knowles and Kevin Knowles; and stepsister Robin Carhart.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at Generations Church (2602 S Kings Ave, Brandon, FL 33511). Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., with the service beginning at 11:00 a.m. A graveside service will follow the next day, Sunday, November 2, 2025, at 1:30 p.m., at Garden of Memories (4207 E Lake Ave, Tampa, FL 33610).

Bill will forever be remembered for his faith, integrity, sense of humor, and unwavering devotion to his family and community.
