William Joseph Fitzgerald

Tampa, Florida. He was born on February 17, 1956, in Johnson City, New York.

Bill devoted his life to his family and faith. He was an active member of his church and found great joy in baking and cooking for others. Whether serving his church, his family, or his community, Bill was always willing to lend a hand and care for the people around him.

Bill is survived by his children, Heather Blewett (James), Billy Fitzgerald (Juvy), Megan Rodgers (Ben); his grandchildren, Loralei, Ethan, Kate, Jacob, Carmi, Joey, and Juliana, and his siblings, Karen, Robin, Jody, Colleen, and Ralph. He is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Dorothy Fitzgerald, and his daughter, Shannon Ross (Kenny).

Bill spent much of his career working as a Mariner for TECO, and later owned Fitz’s Marine Supply. Throughout his life he served his community in many ways, including being a Boy Scout Leader, firefighter, PTA and band Parent, and deacon in his church. Each of these roles reflected something that mattered deeply to Bill: showing up for others.

Please join us in celebrating his life on Saturday, August 29, 2026 at Generations Church 2602 S. Kings Avenue, Brandon. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Generations Church.

Bill will be remembered for his faith, his devotion to his family, his servant’s heart and the many lives he touched along the way.
