Apollo Beach - Meachum, William E. (Billy) “Nook”, 64, of Apollo Beach, passed away on August 15, 2012 at the James A. Haley Veterans Hospital in Tampa, FL. He was born in Plant City, FL on June 23, 1948 to William N. and Luna Mae (Brown) Meachum. He married Patricia (Morgan), who survives.
A US Army Veteran, Billy received 2 Purple hearts, and 2 Bronze Stars with Combat "V" Device while serving in Vietnam.
His memberships include the American Legion Post #389 Ruskin, FL and Disabled American Veterans.
Survivors include his wife of 23 years, Patricia, one daughter, Angela Nicole Burt (Jeffrey) of Lakeland; two brothers, Richard N. Meachum, James Meachum; two sisters, Linda F. Harvey (Jerry), and Wanda McLaurin; three grandchildren, Justin, Olivia, and Wyatt Burt, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be from 10 - 11 AM on Saturday August 25, 2012 with a Memorial Service starting 11 AM at Wells Memorial and Event Center, Plant City, FL. Full US Military Honors will be conducted at the service.
