Constance “Connie” Wilkinson (Hardy) Chandler was born to Frank and Beatrice (Wilkinson) Hardy of Glasgow, Scotland. Raised in Paisley, she was a photo editor in the family business and delivered an essential war time service to her community.
Richard (Dick) Wilfrid Chandler discovered this beauty while on leave in Scotland, courted, and married her in Paisley Abbey. As a brave young war bride, she boarded HMS Aquitania and docked at Pier 21, Halifax, a year later.
In 1946, Baie-D’Urfé, Quebec became their hometown. They led by example: service to community was a duty; to family a passion. Connie turned homemaking into an artform, her most valuable legacy. She was a gentle, fair-minded lady and adored by her whole family.
Preceded in death by her devoted husband and infant daughter, Kimberly, she will be deeply missed by her children: Vivian Amy (Keith Bruce), Victoria Mae (John Pinnell), Richard Frank Wilfrid and Donald Jack (Marie-Lyne Béchard).
Missing their “Gram”, “Grams” and “GG” are Tamara (Steve Lutfy), James (Julia Gerke, Liam and Lena); John Richard (Irene Gyba and Martha), Charles (Maru Arias Montecillo, Victoria, Ellis and baby on the way), Katherine (Mike Donnini and Adriana), Diana (Mitchel Baldwin).
We are in awe of Maxwell Residence staff who lent Connie a warm and helping hand over these past eight years; indeed, a home away from home. To the Lakeshore General Hospital 4 West team – a sincere THANK YOU. And finally, to the Teresa Dellar Palliative Care Residence – you are angels.
Collins-Clarke-MacGillivray-White Funeral Home (Pointe Claire) has been entrusted with the arrangements. A private, grave-side observance will take place at The National Field of Honour, where Connie will be laid to rest beside her beloved Richard.
In honour, donations may be made to The Shriner’s Hospital for Children, Canada.
