It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Harold Leslie Milton on Sunday, August 18 at the age of 95 at the Ste. Anne’s Hospital. He will be deeply missed by his beloved wife of 72 years, Audrey, his loving sons Garry and Ron, daughters-in-law Wendy Hedrich and Fay Milton, his cherished grandchildren Sarah (Alexander Molson), Jennifer, Marissa and Ryan, as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.
Born in Hodgeville, Saskatchewan, Harold moved to Kingston, Ontario at the age of 16. He was always proud of his prairie roots. After serving in WWII, Harold and Audrey were married in Kingston and soon after began his lifelong career with Nothern Electric/Telecom. After periods in Kingston and the Maritimes, they moved to Montreal, settling in Pointe-Claire, where they raised their family. Following retirement, they moved back to Kingston and then to the Comox Valley on Vancouver Island where they spent many wonderful years. They returned to Pointe-Claire in 2007.
Harold loved the outdoors and along with his wife Audrey, spent much time touring in their trailer, camping, bicycling and hiking. Towards the end of his career and in retirement, Harold discovered curling and looked forward to his time at the rink and competing in bonspiels. He was a man of deep faith and very active in his church community, both in Pointe-Claire and Comox.
The family would like to thank the staff of the CLSC Lac-Saint-Louis, the Royal Victoria Hospital (10 South) and Ste. Anne’s Veterans Hospital (14th floor) for the exceptional care they provided for Harold and the kindness and compassion they provided for both Harold and the family.
The family will receive condolences at the Collins Clarke MacGillvray White Funeral Home (222 Autoroute 20, Pointe-Claire, QC) on Friday September 6, 2019 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. and on Saturday, September 7, from 10 to 11 a.m., followed by a funeral service in the Chapel at 11:00 am.
In lieu of flowers, donations to The McGill University Health Center Foundation or The Quebec Veterans Foundation would be greatly appreciated.
