Merry Christmas Mom🎄🎄

2020 has been a strange and scary year. 
However, I know you are watching  over all of us, (Elizabeth/ Stuart, Allen and me/ Kevin, and your two grandsons, Gordon and Jeffrey), keeping us safe in your prayers.  

Kevin and I miss you and your funny ways. 

I hope you are happy and and at peace  with God, Jesus, all the Saints, family and friends.

Truth is, I never really knew my Aunt Joyce. I do know of a photo of her though, from when I was very little.
Aunt Joyce was at our backyard swimming pool. Looking at the photos of her is exactly what I remember. A striking young woman with an infectious smile. (and a lovely figure in a swimsuit, I might add).
Thanks to all of you who have shared your memories of Aunt Joyce, helping the rest of us fit another piece into our family puzzle.
It's obvious Joyce lives on in her children who she adored.
Happy smiles, and a sense of humour.  
I am grateful for the cousins that Aunt Joyce and Uncle Earl brought into my life.

Mrs. Kehoe is what I called her for the past 26 years, despite the fact that she was divorced and thus I should’ve been calling her Mrs. Cormier. Mrs. Kehoe was a warm, kind, passive and extremely easy-going woman.  On my very first date with her daughter, Brenda; she openly welcomed me into her apartment and never gave me the “up and down” look that I was expecting.

We had a lot of similarities between us, we both liked shopping at the Dollar store, and we both LOVED McDonalds, and I especially appreciated her kookiness and playful attitude.  I’ll always cherish the times Brenda and I brought her extra groceries because she had this wonderful smile from ear to ear.  When we would buy her gifts for special occasions, she always said that they were “so beautiful” regardless of the fact if she would or could ever use them.  We often took her to St-Hubert restaurant, as she loved a good chicken meal, or sometimes we would order in and sit around her living room, and she would always want to return the favor.  

Mrs. Kehoe, or rather Joyce, I could go on talking about the special times we’ve had but I just want to let you know that you’ll always have a special place in my heart as I could never have asked for a better mother-in-law.

Dear Aunt Joyce, Your love and spirit always shined through no matter the years or distance. You were kind, lovely and sensitive; always concerned about others feelings and needs. You were truly a saint amongst us. I will always carry your beauty and your light inside my heart. One of your many god given traits was your beautiful laugh. Everyone who knew you will always share a common bond in that when we hear a contagious laugh our thoughts will turn to you.
Thanks for being a wonderful and giving aunt to me, Ian, Shayla and Deanna.  Our eternal Love to you always, Susan. XO

Dear Brenda (Kevin), Liz (Stu) and Allen (Andrea, Gordon & Jeffrey); 
 My thoughts are with you all at this time as we all say goodbye to your beloved Mom. Take care and Love you all....

One of my favorite childhood memories is when my Aunt Joyce would come  to visit my mom.  I remember both of them sitting at the kitchen table yaking away and hearing Joyce's wonderful laugh. Through the passing years whenever I would hear someone with a great laugh I often was compelled to say -you know the way you laugh reminds me of my aunt Joyce in Montreal. She was kind, loving and full of life. I will miss getting cards and letters from her in the mail. She will be missed.

I am happy that I had the opportunity to meet Joyce last year during an outing with Liz.  Although we only met that one time in person and spoke a few times on the phone, I feel privileged to have shared some time with this beautiful human being whose simple kindness, generosity and above all steadfast faith I will always remember…. and that heartfelt laugh too!



Goodbye, Joyce. You have left our sight but not our hearts. We will all carry you there until the day when our eyes behold your beautiful face once again, and our ears once more hear the delightful sound of your laughter. Between now and then, please keep a watchful eye on all our steps as we make our own way to the eternal home you have already found. We love you.

Joyce: When I married Joyce, she was a beautiful, happy, easy-going young woman whom I loved.  This lady bore me three lovely children who I am very proud of.  Unknown to both of us, there was a dark cloud hanging over our marriage which showed up and caused our breakup.
After that Joyce seemed, in my opinion, to lead a very quiet and somewhat lonely life which she did not deserve.  I only hope and pray that she is in a happy place which I believe she deserves.
