Laura Norma Marlene Smith born in Montreal on January 21 1948. Laura passed away in the early morning at the Lakeshore Hospital, Palliative Care unit October 29, 2022 after a six-month battle with chronic lung disease.
Laura was predeceased by her husband for over 40 years Patrick Murphy (January 10, 2020) and her parents Malcolm and Catherine, sisters Barbara and Wendy. Laura also leaves behind her sisters Debbie (Harold), Cheryl (Ernie) and brothers Garth (Wendy), Malcolm (Linda), Darren and Andre plus many, many nieces and nephews. Also mourning are Laura’s brother-in-laws Sean (Clair) and Daniel and numerous nieces and nephews from the Murphy family.
Laura was a lifetime employee of Nortel who retired in 1998 at an early age. Later in life, Laura went on to work as a daycare monitor at the local elementary schools in the West Island.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, November 6, 2022, at 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Collins Clarke, MacGillivray White funeral home 222 Autoroute 20 Pointe-Claire, QC H9S3X6.
In lieu of giving flowers, the family asks that those who are able instead donate to Cancer Society.
