Nancy and Pete's love story has been an inspiration for forty six years.  Through good times and rough, joys and sorrows, they have weathered the years with faith and indomitable love. God bless and be with you, dear brother, as you grieve your precious wife. He is taking good care of our Nancy.

Daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, auntie, friend...and beloved sister in law to me. I have known our Nancy for forty six years, and each year she has become dearer to me. Though separated most of these years by distance - letters, phone calls and all too few but wonderful visits developed a treasured friendship. She is the sister I never had, who has shared love, kindness, wisdom and advice over the years. A mischievous sense of humour, an inspirational faith in her ever present Heavenly Father, a fierce love for her husband - my brother Pete - her family and extended family, and a life of service to many who will forever treasure her memory, Nancy leaves an eternal legacy. Mes condoléances  Peter a toi et toute ta famille en ce moment de grande tristesse.

I have known Nancy pretty well as long as Andrea. We went through many of Andrea and Mark's trials and tribulations in their long term relationship. It was great that we could confide in each other and even scheme a bit to try and patch things up to try to keep them together. We both knew they were meant for each other. Their trip to Europe was
 a challenge for both of us but they made it though and we went together to pick them up at Mirabel happy to see them both tired and broke as they were. 
We had great fun planning their wedding and agreed on (almost) everything.
We enjoyed the joy of the births of Andrew and Fiona and shared these beautiful grandchildren with pride many times going halvies on gifts at Christmas.When we didn't share what we were giving Peter and Nancy come up with the most unique toys for them. Better ideas than mine.
I know Nancy is irreplaceable but I hope that both Adam and Mark and even Peter can reach out to me anytime. I am always happy to talk(as you know).
There is comfort in the memories of our loved ones. Embrace them for they are gifts that will remain forever in your heart.

 This friend, this wonderful woman "the unbeatable Nancy Brown” is gone from our grasp.  She  and Peter have been a constant in my life for many years. She will be sorely missed. 

She was indomitable in happiness and kindness. She made a difference in the lives of her friends and family. She loved as she was loved. Her wicked humour was contagious. She was big-hearted, true-hearted and fast friend as well as practical and pragmatic. Her outreach to me meant so much to me, when I was starting back to work after I had fallen down. She acted at the time as if I was “normal,” a place I aspire to even now.  I would return home at Christmas each year, Nancy and Peter high on the list to visit. There were many important issues to discuss, her life, my life, Bob the dog, children, grandchildren, all  over the special blend of tea or centered around the dinner table.
 
My friend taught me many things. What always stood out the most is a women and her husband, dealing the hand that was dealt them, with good will and grace.   Her patience with my insistence at writing to her first on paper then in a blog.  I learned to be a better writer. I aspired to be a better letter writer. I learned to be a friend on paper as the distance made it hard to be there. How to be a friend. Yes indeed my friend taught me many things. 

I was made welcome always in their home. The last time just weeks ago.  

Tea in hand she said “ I am so glad to see you.”  Nancy said. “I am too.” was my response.

I met Nancy when I was 17 and had just started dating Mark.  I went over for dinner and was immediately folded into the warmth of a caring, loving and generous woman.  Twenty-three years later, there have been so many meals around that table ("mangiare!"), so many memories to cherish and so many things to thank her for.  She loved fiercely and made sure those around her knew they were deeply cherished, especially her two beloved grandchildren.  Her strength was unparalleled.  Mark, Peter and Adam, my heart breaks for you, but I know she felt your love and devotion, which was so strong and so very lovely to witness.
