She was predeceased by her husband Charles in 2006, as well as siblings Andrea (Martin), Marybel (Lucas) and Harry. She leaves behind, with many happy memories, sons Peter (Zoya Duba) and Michael (Linda Spor), grandchildren Christopher, Kathleen (O'Neil) and Jonathan, and great-grand daughter Alanna - who provided her deep joy - in addition to many nieces and nephews.
Born in Stellarton on Cape Breton Island, Pat attended Benenden School in Kent, UK and Branksome Hall in Toronto before going to McGill University where she earned Bachelor of Arts and Master of Social Work degrees. She worked as a social worker in Cape Breton and Montreal before she married Charles in 1953 and moved to Beaconsfield. There she applied her passion for books and reading by helping to establish the municipal library starting from books in a broom closet. She then volunteered as a children's librarian and earned her degree in library science from John Abbot College.
Pat created a warm and welcoming home that was a magnet for neighborhood kids, friends and family, and was filled with interesting conversation, outstanding food and much, much laughter. Pat was an avid birder, gardener and sailor, accompanying Charles on evening sails on Lake St. Louis and excursions to the Thousand Islands. She will be missed.
Due to the current covid pandemic, a memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are being made by Collins Clarke Funeral Home Pointe Claire.
