February 18, 1942 – February 24, 2016
The many, many people who knew and loved Rod will be immensely saddened by his passing on February 24, 2016 at the Royal Victoria Hospital after a long illness which he fought with great courage, optimism and cheerfulness. He will be forever cherished and never forgotten by his loving wife and best friend of over 38 years, Tina (Allan). He is survived and will be dearly missed by his Auntie Barb and his cousins Ann (Bruce) and Doug (Cindy). He also leaves to mourn his brother-in-law Chris (Lorraine), his sister-in- law, Charlotte and his nieces Sarah, Nicola, Philippa, Kelsey, great-nephew, James and goddaughter, Bonnie. Rod spent his career in the travel industry (CP Rail, CP Ships, Nordair, Canadian Airlines and Air Canada) and leaves behind many colleagues who will miss his presence at Retiree Luncheons in Toronto. Rod was a good and loyal friend who made a difference in people's lives and was always there to help and listen. He was very proud of growing up in Valois and returning back to his roots after he retired from Air Canada in 2001. He will also be missed by his close friends, his neighbours and children in the community who have all supported Tina during this difficult time. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 2, 2016 from 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. at Collins Clarke MacGillivray White Funeral Home, 222 autoroute 20, Pointe-Claire, Quebec. Visitation will also be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 3, 2016 followed by a service at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel to celebrate Rod's life. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Rod's memory to the West Island Palliative Care Residence or a charity of your choice.
