JARYMOWYCZ, Roman Johann LCol (ret'd) OMM, CD, PhDRoman was a Renaissance man in the true sense: a master teacher, a writer, a cartoonist, a military historian, an artist and a bon vivant. Roman was born in Vienna, Austria on January 18, 1945. He collapsed suddenly at home on his birthday and died peacefully the next day. He is survived by his loving wife, Sandra (d'Apollonia), his stepson Michael (Pasquale), and his two beloved granddaughters Mia and Iris. He is also survived by his mother, Jaroslawa Kostjuk, his two brothers, Dan (Joanna Losito) and Alexander (Chantal Barbucci) and nieces and nephews (Andrew, Evanna, Orysia and Markiian Kostjuk). Everyone who knew Roman as a colleague, a student or a friend will remember his passion for life. He had a profound and lasting effect on everyone he met. His knowledge of military history was encyclopedic; his special interest was manoeuvre and the operational art of war. He never met a tank he did not like. Visitation will be at Collins Clarke MacGillivray White Funeral Home, (222 Autoroute 20, Pointe- Claire H9S 3X6) on Friday, January 27 2:00 - 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. and also Saturday January 28 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. This will be followed by a service in the chapel. We would like to thank all the doctors, nurses and staff at the Lakeshore General Hospital in Kirkland for their compassion and care. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Lakeshore General Hospital would be appreciated.Non nobis sed patriae
