À la douce mémoire de Ruth, 
“Memories of those we’ve loved stay close to us, keeping our hearts company”.  Souhaitons que cette citation, que nous avons retenue, puisse apporter un peu de lumière et de réconfort  dans ces moments  de chagrin. Moments que nous partageons de tout cœur  avec toute la famille : Jay, Becca, Katie, les petits- enfants ainsi que tous leurs proches.
Non seulement Ruth était la «Grand’Ma » de nos petites filles Laura et Vicitoria, mais elle était devenue avec le temps une précieuse amie compte tenu de sa personnalité si  attachante, sa simplicité,  son sens de l’humour et son grand esprit de famille.  Nous conservons de Ruth des souvenirs ineffaçables  de tous nos éclats de rire quand nous mélangions anglais et français dans nos conversations lors de nos réceptions...  Nous retenons de  toi, Ruth,  ta grande générosité et que de très bons souvenirs!

Nous imaginons comment cette épreuve est difficile sachant que tu as été très près d’elle ces dernières années, et ce jusqu’à son départ. C’est assurément un moment triste, mais tous tes souvenirs te permettront de la garder dans ton cœur.

Mrs. Giddy was one of the teachers that made my years at John Rennie memorable.  She was a great lady and I was fortunate to have her as my English teacher.  Sincere condolences to the family on your loss. 

Dearest Cathy, Rebecca and Jay...
The three of you along with your Mom enriched my life many years ago when you joined my after school piano classes at Dorval Gardens Elementary school. I think of the three of you often and fondly, especially when I drive past your old home in Dorval, but above all I remember the beauty of your mother. She was so kind and carried herself with such grace. She treasured her children!
I send you all my heartfelt condolences on the loss of your wonderful mother and hope that her journey home was swift and uneventful.

I photographed Ruth several times during our years teaching at John Rennie High School. 

In going through my files recently I found a photograph of her that properly belongs in the family collection. I'd like someone to contact me about it.




As a novice English teacher at John Rennie High back in the 1970's I quickly noticed the veteran staffers who were the true professionals with a love of their subjects and order in their classrooms.  Ruth always seemed on top of her game:  organized, calm, with a spritz or two of wry humour on a more challenging day.  I am certain her commitment and concern  contributed to the subsequent success of many students over the years.

Ruth Giddy taught me when I attended JRHS as a student and then later was my colleague when I worked there.  Bright, kind, thoughtful she was a fine teacher and a lovely person.   Condolences to the family but a life well lived.

Sorry for your loss. 
I remember her looking at 3 young women who took the Physical Education by storm in September of 76. I was one of them. Ruth would smile at us and encourage us in our endeavors. She would say that we were a breath of fresh  air.
I will remember her with fond memories and a smile on my face.

We wish to convey our sympathies to Ruth’s children and grandchildren. As cousins we grew up together. Later in life we become closer through our association with Monenco. We have fond memories of many dinners and parties with Ruth and Rupert. She was warm and beautiful woman.

My deepest condolences at this difficult time. I knew Rupert too as they purchased their home in Beaconsfield with me and Ruth sold it again with me when she moved to her Residence.  It was always a pleasure dealing with both of them. Ruth will be sorely missed.

You were my favorite teacher. Very few people have a life long impact on others but you did. I think of you often, and spoke of you  just a week ago, I remembered you to my husband who I met at John Rennie, while you were my teacher. I am sorry for the trouble some of us girls caused, sneaking off to the bathroom, fooling around during exams. You never got mad and always treated us with such dignity and grace, and continued to encourage us always. Thank you for some wonderful memories, and I am hoping that these same type of memories are here to comfort your family when they need them, today and always. 

Mrs Giddy was one of my all time favourite teachers at JRHS. She was so nice to all of us and kept us engaged in whatever topic we happened to be studying at the time. I looked forward to her class every day. My condolences to her family. 

One of my favourite teachers at JRHS. She was so friendly and patient. She also had a great sense of humour. I always looked forward to her class.  Condolences to her family and friends. 

Mrs. Giddy was my Grade 11 English teacher in 1972/73. Although I may have skipped classes from time to time, I never missed an English class, even though it was the last class of my school day. Studying The Agony and the Ecstasy (historical fiction about Michelangelo), started a lifelong passion for historical fiction. I credit her (and Miss Machin) for fostering in me the drive to get a degree in English and to become a writer/editor. I also was appreciative of her contributions to the costume/wardrobe department of our various musical productions, being a cast member in both Once Upon a Mattress and Peter Pan.

My sincere sympathies to the family. 

I was saddened to learn of the passing of Mrs. Giddy. She was my favourite teacher, pretty much rising above all others throughout my school years. Mrs. Giddy taught me to deeply respect and appreciate the English language, proper grammar, appropriate punctuation and good writing skills, and her teachings prepared me for a future in fields in which these skills are highly valued. The photos of Mrs. Giddy and her family show a wonderful life. My deepest sympathies to her family and friends. 

I credit Mrs Giddy with fostering my love of languages by teaching me Latin in Grade 9 at JRHS. My condolences to the family.
